Innovative New Comedy “Paul Cruz: Latin Actor (A Mockuseries),” Breaking Stereotypes & Redefining TV.

For Immediate release -(Hollywood, CA) – April 11 2012 –  Actor turned writer, producer, director, Paul Cruz, is redefining the way Latin people are portrayed in TV with his innovative new loosely scripted improv comedy “Paul Cruz: Latin Actor, (A Mockuseries).”

The show which won the “Best in Television Award” at the 2011 New York ITN Distribution Film, TV and New Media Festival, as well as a big winner at the 2011 Beverly Hills Film, TV & New Media Festival, is creating quite a buzz in Hollywood for its originality and wins on both coasts and screens this Saturday April 14th, at Independent Film Quarterly Magazines Film Festival at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, California.

The series is loosely based on the actual crazy but true life of Latin actor Paul Cruz and his struggles trying to fit the stereotypes of Hollywood. While there are numerous reality shows and docuseries, “Paul Cruz: Latin Actor” steps forward as a “Mockuseries”.

Cruz explains, “I’d tested for leads in series over the years but I wanted to create something of my own, new, different, edgy, that explored the harsh reality of life in Hollywood as a struggling Latin actor without taking itself too seriously.”

“The title is ironic because he is a very ‘White Washed,’ Latin actor who doesn’t even speak Spanish so it’s NOT a show that strictly caters to a Latin audience but one that anyone struggling with a dream can relate to and everyone has a dream.”

The pilot also stars Academy Award Nominee, Golden Globe winner for Best Actress, Sally Kirkland, veteran comedian Max Alexander, and Academy Award, Emmy Award winning Director/Producer and Steven Spielberg protege’ James Moll, in a brilliantly comedic guest star role.

The series deals with things such as Paul’s highly dysfunctional family, his sex and drug addicted agent, an alcoholic, senile talent manager, his gay manic-depressive landlord, as well as many other larger than life characters and situations. “It’s a very different look inside Hollywood. One you haven’t seen before,” Cruz said. “It’s the complete opposite of Entourage! I’d love to find a network for it!”
